Sightseeing

Fallingwater is WORLD FAMOUS and if you haven't been you must pay a visit. Time Magazine called Fallingwater one of the most beautiful pieces of architecture in North America and it is also listed among Smithsonian's "Life List of 28 Places to See Before You Die." The house was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1966 and in 1991, members of the American Institute of Architects named Fallingwater the "best all-time work of American architecture" and in 2007, it was ranked 29th on the list of America's Favorite Architecture according to the AIA.[7] It and seven other Wright constructions were inscribed on the World Heritage List under the title "The 20th-Century Architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright" in July 2019.

In 1754, a 22-year-old George Washington commanded his 160 men to build a fort in the middle of an open field in Western Pennsylvania. Shortly after its completion Fort Necessity would become the site of the very first battle in the French and Indian War. The war lasted nine years and would end France’s role as a colonial power in North America. With Britain's position as the dominant colonial power firmly established, the stage was set for the American Revolution. Interested in learning more… the driving time from Grandma’s Gift to Fort Necessity is only 20 minutes.
