Drinks & Nightlife

This has been my favorite Minneapolis bar since I started going here in 2007. Plus, they have the best dance night in town, every Wednesday. Transmission! Brit rock, modern indie, post-punk, New Wave.

Essentials

It's no fancy co-op, but at least it's expansive, so you can find pretty much anything you need. Cheap, too.

Shopping

Merwin's has a fine selection of craft beers (25% off each bottle when you buy 6), & nice wine selection, too. You can thank my friend Louis, the owner, for that. He's a friend for nearly 10 years.

Food Scene

If you're looking for a really nice dinner, this is one of the best places in the Twin Cities. Moderately priced for the quality, and a great atmosphere, too.

Another fantastic restaurant in the city. Try the butterscotch budino for dessert. It'll make you swoon. A little pricy, and it's small plate.

If tacos are your thing (I know they're mine) this is what taco dreams are made of. Right in the heart of Central Avenue, I'd recommend stopping by Holy Land grocery and deli, too.

Half restaurant, half grocery store, it's worth a look see. I always leave with an armful of goods, in particular their hummus, which is delicious (and can be found in most grocery stores locally).

Just four blocks from my home, it's the best place in the neighborhood for coffee/espresso or a quick meal. Great sandwiches and desserts (the banana pudding, omg), fabulous service with a warm smile.

This is MY coffee shop. I don't own it, of course, but it's one of those places that I've always been at home. It's been pointed out that their decor is an extension of my living space. :)
