If you’re visiting with kids, this is a must-see. We’ve watched the Big Mo grow from one to two to three screens. Concessions are reasonably priced but you can bring food also. Sometimes we’d drive up the road to Shealy’s, get a to go plate, and bring it back. Each screen has a double feature. Be prepared to be up very late if you stay for the second feature, like 1:30 or 2 am. That’s the only thing I wasn’t crazy about. This place is so much fun though.

Free on Sunday afternoons! A small art museum with a nice collection, showcasing southern art, both historical & contemporary. Gift shop is really nice, and you can visit that without buying a museum ticket. It’s also located on the Riverwalk along the Savannah River & downtown.

https://www.northaugustasc.gov/government/city-departments/parks-recreation-tourism/greeneway-trail There is a downloadable brochure at this link! The Greeneway is a walking & biking trail That wends along the river and up through North Augusta. Drive about a mile and a half to Manuels bread Café, google in your GPS, and park on the street. Walk about three blocks down to the river, where there is a lovely little park right on the water, and the Greeneway here is also right by the water. Check out the brochure for other entry points.

Redcliffe Plantation State Park

https://southcarolinaparks.com/redcliffe This is a state park created from a former plantation, built 1859. Beautiful grounds and the plantation house is worth a tour, very reasonably priced. See the link for specific info on special programs year round. If you’ve got kids, a great place to run them around & wear them out. There is also an Audubon bird sanctuary there.

Summer Advice

Lord it can get hot. We have bug spray at the house but definitely bring some sunscreen. Loose cotton or breathable fabric clothes. A broad brimmed hat or even an umbrella to keep the sun off. If you can be indoors from 11ish till 4ish, do it. Take water with you. Early mornings & evenings can be quite pleasant, and of course you can enjoy out on our patio or screen porch. Just a heads up if you’re not used to the heat & humidity, pace yourself.
