Great place for groceries. It's on the main East End road as you come and go from downtown Christiansted, so it's convenient as you'll pass it frequently during your stay.

Sightseeing

A visit to Buck Island is a MUST when visiting St. Croix. Whether to walk the beach, hike to the top for breathtaking 360 Caribbean views, or to snorkel at Buck Island Reef National Monument. We took a lovely, leisurely sail to the island aboard Teroro II, with captain Carl Heinz. They had a guide to help us snorkel and dropped us off to explore the island as well. You can reach him via email at teroro@msn.com. His boat docks just a few min away from Coakley at Green Cay Marina.

Stunning, pristine, secluded, and just a few minutes drive from Coakley Bay next to Point Udall. We frequently go here to walk the beach and swim in the ocean, and we seldom see other people. You have a decent hike down to the beach (and then back up to your car). Bring comfortable shoes, sunscreen and water.

You can walk from your door to this beach, but we recommend throwing a few beach chairs and a cooler in your car and taking them right down to the beach. When leaving Coakley complex, turn left. Take the first right onto the dirt road that runs along the giant estate. That will veer left to a number of private parking spaces you can make your base for the day.
