Sightseeing

Loe Bar can be accessed via the Penrose Estate which provides for a lovely wooded walk with a National Trust café and toilets. We usually park in the car park at Penrose Estate (TR13 0RD) or from the coastal path. However, please do not swim on this beach though as there are dangerous rip tides.

Porthleven is a beautiful village with a range of shops, bars and restaurants, a harbour and a mainly shingle beach. From the shingle beach, there is a long and sandy beach which stretches three miles south west to Loe Bar and Gunwalloe Cove. A 45 minute stroll from Porthleven will take you along the coastal path to Loe Bar. However, please do not swim on this beach though as there are dangerous rip tides.

St Michael's Mount is a tidal island in Mount's Bay. The island is a civil parish and is linked to the town of Marazion by a man-made causeway of granite setts, passable between mid-tide and low water.

Falmouth is a lovely town and has a nice range of shops and beaches. There is also a cinema, a theatre (Princess Pavilions), lots of restaurants and bars including many at Events Square on the water front. Pendennis Point has lovely views and is nice to sit and enjoy an ice cream. You will see Pendennis Castle here and can also walk along the sea front and to many different beaches. Very close to Pendennis Point is Ships and Castles Leisure Centre which has a fun pool and swimming facilities as well as a gym and a café. Beaches include Maenporth – a lovely seaside beach with nice restaurant (The Cove) and a beach café; Gyllynvase – a lovely seaside beach and café (Gylly café) and Swanpool – a gorgeous lovely seaside beach and small beach café. There is a gorgeous walk along the coastal path from Maenporth, Swanpool and Gyllynvase beaches.

Worth a visit including places such as Lizard Point (the most Southerly point in England), Kynance Cove (the most beautiful beach in my opinion in the whole of Cornwall but quite a trek down the cliff – worse on the way up), Cadgwith (a small village and beach), and Kennack Sands (a lovely beach with a beach café).
