Food scene

The food is wonderful - I've never had a bad meal here. Also, the location (both that it's riverside and just 10 minutes from the cabin) can't be beat. It's also beautiful inside.

Local Waterfalls

It’s a 1-mile hike to the beautiful waterfall. Most of the hike is gentle, wide trail and not too steep, so it should be manageable for most abilities and kids. Also, the trailhead, where you park, is an incredible spot for a pic-nic by the beautiful Noontootla Creek. If you have a hammock and the weather is nice, I can't think of a place I'd rather be.

This is inside a Georgia State Park, so a parking fee of $5 will be charged. This is the tallest cascading waterfall east of the Mississippi at 729 feet tall. You have several options to get to the top. You can drive (there’s a lodge with a restaurant at the top), you can walk up a series of many steps that go right next to the falls, or you can hike through the woods up several different trails that go from the bottom to the top. The view from the top is worth every step and you won't regret.

It’s a gentle ½ mile round-trip hike to the waterfall on the Benton MacKaye trail. This is the closest waterfall to the cabin (a 15-minute drive, all paved). It would be great to combine with eating at the Toccoa Riverside Restaurant nearby.

Sightseeing

The Toccoa River swinging bridge is a great short hike to view the river up close while using an amazing bridge on the Benton Mackaye Trail. Once on the other side of the river, the landscape is wide, flat and clear of brush - it's a great place to let the kids run around or have a pic nic.
