This one is close by, a check off the WA trails bucket list, and gives you beautiful views of an epic waterfall once you get to the Lookout spots. The whole way there is enchanted forest to the max. It’s about 2.5 miles to the Middle Falls Lookout and only gets a bit steeper in the last quarter mile. Great for the kids or for a quick day hike!

This is a very close option making it a great morning or afternoon day hike in between relaxing by the river at Three Peak Cabin. It’s steep but only 1.4 miles up to the wooden structure Lookout, with views of Mt Baring and Mt Persus. The Lookout has 57 steps up. The Heybrook Lookout Trailhead is .4 miles from our front door, only .2 miles further East than us on Route 2.

This is a 4.4mile there-and-back whose trailhead is about 25 minutes or so from our front steps. The elevation gain is only around 200ft so it’s a mellow hike for younger families, older dogs, and everyone in between! It starts out in beautiful dry timber and then the old growth forest height dominates the rest of this beautiful hike. Keep your eye out for views of Mt Baring between the tree canopy! Barclay Lake is 2.1 miles in and has got sandy banks to play on. The perfect lunch or breakfast spot!
