Sightseeing

From Vergeletto, in the Zott area and close to the Arena Forest Reserve, a modern 4-seat per cabin cable car will take you to Alpe Salei in only 7 minutes at 1783m. From here, beside the welcoming hut, you can easily access a limpid alpine lake (just a 20-minute walk away), some of the surrounding mountain tops that offer a breathtaking panoramic view (the Pilone, between the Onsernone Valley and the Valley of Vergeletto), as well as the hills and villages of Comologno and Spruga (at about 1h30 walk away).

From the hilltops of Munzelüm or Zucchero around the alp, the views reach all the way back to the Maggia Delta and Lake Maggiore. Beneath Munzelüm’s slopes, between heaps of stones, meadows and rhododendrons, lies the charming alpine lake of Salei (1924m), ideal to take a refreshing bath in hot summer days.
