Fairytale fens in Midden-Brabant A walk through the Oisterwijkse Woods and Vennen I recommend everyone. Here the one VEN is even more atmospheric than the other. Take for example the wonderful Goorven-although the name suggests otherwise. Goor means ' swamp ' here. It used to be peat, work that gave off dirty hands. Now it's a magnet for dragonflies, waterfowl and photographers. I like to come here.

ENDLESS ENJOYMENT OF BRABANT'S NATURAL BEAUTY

Brabant is the province with the most wonderful and attractive nature reserves. Not surprising that Brabant is also the only province with no fewer than four national parks which (mostly) lie within the provincial boundaries! From extensive heathland with beautiful views and extensive woods to unusual wetlands, you’ll find them all in Brabant. Come and enjoy them! Combine a city visit with a rural day out. The Brabant countryside invites you to walk, cycle, go horse riding and much more. Natural areas such as the Biesbosch, the Groote Peel and the Loon and Drunen Dunes - the largest sand dune area in Western Europe – are ideally suited to this. But also the Kampina, the Oisterwijk Vennen and Plassen, the Bakelse Bos, the Mastbos and the Bossche Broek are definitely worth a visit. And each season has its own charm.
