Botanical Garden
“The Desert Botanical Gardens is a must visit in my opinion unless you hate plants. Very vast and unique selection of desert landscaping with lots of photo opportunities. They also do seasonal events such as during Fall/Halloween season they light up the park and have pumpkins everywhere. Many locals get the annual pass because it is a better deal if you visit more than once per year or bring a couple guests with you.”

Zoo
“The zoo has over 1,400 animals on display and contains 2.5 miles (4.0 km) of walking trails. It is divided into four main themed areas or trails: The Arizona Trail (American Southwest flora and fauna), the Africa Trail (animals from Africa), the Tropics Trail (residents of the rain forests), and the Children's Trail, which includes a petting zoo.”

Botanical Garden
“Truly a wonderful way to better understand the Sonoran Desert, close to Sky Harbor Airport so a great place to walk off the effects of sitting in a plane for a few hours or a great last stop before catching an afternoon plane. It opens at 8 AM. They also have Gertrudes, a well recognized restaurant and through out the year special weekend and night events. Through May 12th they have a nightly Electric Desert event which looks amazing.”

Mountain
“This is a super easy hike with even better reward. Best ROI from any hike on my guidebook. 0.3 mile out and back 32 foot elevation gain This is located in Papago Park and you can see the Phoenix zoo from here. If you have people in your group that aren't ready to take on Camelback Mountain, you can still come here to appreciate the red rock and interesting rock formations that Arizona is known for. This is very close to the Phoenix Botanical Gardens and the Phoenix Zoo, so a great place for a quick stop before or after you go to either of these venues.”

Ride the light rail to downtown Tempe on the weekends for a bit of night life, bars, and dancing. It can get a bit wild with college students, especially on game nights!
