Highly recommend! Alex and Austin are amazing lifesavers (they’re seriously the best - keep reading). I booked Austin & Alex’s condo for my first night in Houston which was the Friday after Thanksgiving. I chose their place for several reasons:
I rented a car and was concerned about break-ins so I liked that their home is in a gated area. If you will have a car with you, after you enter the gate, you can drive to the end of the parking area and park in one of the two uncovered visitor parking spots to the right of the dumpster. I didn’t have any issues with parking availability which was great.
The condo is tucked away in a quiet area of the city about a half-hour drive from George Bush Intercontinental Airport. There is a serene view of the Buffalo Bayou River and trees out of the bedroom window and balcony. I was awake early enough to watch the last bit of the sunrise in bed which was really nice and peaceful.
It was very nice to have a private bathroom right across from the bedroom and also be able to keep my leftovers in the refrigerator. I liked that Alex was very responsive after I sent a message before booking my reservation. Alex provided her and Austin’s phone numbers to me before I arrived which was great. The August Smart Lock system was very convenient. All I had to do was download an app on my phone before my trip and turn on my Bluetooth connection once I was in front of the door. No key needed - the door unlocked from the inside.
Austin and Alex were very welcoming and made me feel at home. Alex was also very kind about me accidentally leaving behind a sentimental item and coming back to get it on Sunday afternoon. That night, my last night in Texas, I went to the Airbnb townhouse I had booked in the Midtown-Downtown area near Axelrad and it was absolutely terrible. It was awful for various reasons but I am limited to 500 words in this post. I was nearly in tears and decided to call Alex around 8:30 p.m. to see if there was any chance I might be able to make a last-minute booking and stay at their condo that night if I could get a refund from the awful Airbnb. She and Austin were very understanding and said to come over which was such a relief. They greeted me when I made it to their place that night and it honestly felt like coming home. I was legitimately overjoyed that they saved me from having to stay at the terrible Airbnb. They are the definition of Southern hospitality. You will feel that they genuinely care about their guests and want to make sure guests have a positive experience during their stay. I don’t hesitate to recommend staying with them during your time in Houston.
