We descended on Niall’s property for a book club weekend, after reading Northanger Abbey and wanting to visit Jane Austen’s house (approx 20min drive away). The house was so remote and peaceful, an expansive garden with beautiful views. We had everything we needed in the kitchen and the living room was perfect for a comfy chat. We did have a few issues which were all speedily resolved by a friendly, proactive host. All in all, a fabulous weekend.

The house was very clean and tidy and felt homely and cosy. The village is beautiful and peaceful, just right if you are looking for a quiet and relaxing time. With a big kitchen and two bathrooms, this is a perfect space for a family to stay. Gilly is a very friendly and helpful host. We would definitely stay there again.

The hosts, Lisa and Martyn, were incredibly warm and welcoming. They were always approachable and responded to any questions promptly and courteously, which made me feel at ease throughout my stay. The accommodation was exactly as described—peaceful and comfortable. Upon arrival, I was touched to find a thoughtful selection of breakfast essentials including bread, milk, butter, homemade jam, coffee, and tea. This warm gesture was a lovely welcome and set the tone for the rest of the stay. The surrounding nature was absolutely beautiful. I woke each morning to the sound of birdsong and ended each day marvelling at the star-filled night sky. Visiting in spring meant I was lucky to see fresh green foliage, bluebells, and wild garlic in full bloom, creating a truly picturesque and healing landscape. The property includes a vast vineyard. Catherine's cabin is the perfect place to switch off - the cabin is cosy and well equipped with everything you could need! We all slept well in the comfy bedsand we all loved listening to the owls before bed. It was lovely to have the electric fire on in the cold mornings! Positioned so close to the central square was a perfect location. Sandy Balls itself WONDERFUL not only is the forest beautiful with easy access walks but the site was clean easy to navigate with great adventure playgrounds. The entertainment provided each night was great especially the campfire acoustic performance. The foam party was a real hit with both my children and the paid activities a real treat. We are all looking forward to a return visit! Thanks Catherine.

A lovely place to relax at. Owners were great and helpful. Loads of places to go and see around the area. Cabin was nice and spacious. Will defiantly be returning in the future.
