We've stayed in a bunch of Airbnbs in the Starved Rock area over the years, and this one is by far the best. We had the most delightful time here. The deck beside the river is so tranquil, and spending time out there was so nourishing. The couches and beds are comfortable, and the house is spacious and well-kept. This place was the de-stressing zone we needed. We can't wait to come back.

We had a wonderful long weekend at this piece of history. The property is beautiful and very private. You can tell the owners care about the home and maintaining its history. This was hands down the best stocked kitchen I've ever seen at an Airbnb! Lots of linens and towels back ups provided. We had one rain day and we had fun playing many of the games made available to us. (which are countless) We now also want a mini pool table lol. Being able to get in the hot tub after a long day of hiking also was incredible. We will definitely be back!

We come from Chicago a couple times a year to hike at Starved Rock, Matthiesen, etc, so we thought we would try staying for a full weekend. This place was the perfect fit. It was pet friendly, so our dog could come along, and it had great amenities at the resort. The staff was very responsive and easy to communicate with.

This is the 2nd time we've stayed here, and we'll definitely be going back. Lots to do in the area, and the house has everything you need to stay close to home, as well. The place is spacious and the attention to detail is a nice touch. The hosts are super responsive, and the proximity to Starved Rock and Matthiessen State Parks make this a perfect getaway spot.

An amazing piece of history. This house is so very peaceful. Just lovely! And she was so kind about us accidentally throwing our dogs favorite boll in to the neighbors yard. Wish we could have stayed longer, ok ok and move in for a while! I loved the back yard. So YES we would definitely come back again!

The pictures did not do this place justice. It was beyond expectations and such a perfect spot to stay. We only wish we would have had more time to explore around the house and area. Our grandchildren loved their first experience seeing and playing in the snow. The deck was perfect and even provided some me toys for them to play with outside. Thank you truly for sharing your home!!

Great place, very cosy, remote and peaceful. Full bed, lots of blankets, hot shower, kitchen stocked with utensils, and a lovely sitting room. This is an upstairs apartment from a home but it still feels private. Samuel gave us a tour of the farm- such an inspiring place, and a fascinating story. We were honored to visit and can’t wait to come back in the spring!

The place was exactly as pictured and we had an amazing stay! The bed and couch were very comfortable and all the personalities they have made were so nice! Hosts were very response and place was easy to find. We loved that everything was in walking distance as well.

Positives- Cozy king-size bed and pillows. Jetted tub w comfy robes a plus! Enjoyed a bonfire at one of the fire pits available on the property. Amy responds very quickly to any questions! Microwave only and smaller fridge on-site so come prepared as needed for food/beverages/cookware. Only negatives-Not a lot of “lounging” furniture (more modern couch and wooden chair only in living room) and would be nice if there was a tv available in the loft area but not needed if you’re out hiking or site-seeing for much of your stay. Also probably would not have enjoyed ourselves as much if all cabins and units available were occupied. Quite a bit going on there between I’m guessing two city lots. Was nice to seemingly have the place to ourselves though! There are a number of restaurants in walking distance. We really enjoyed sandwiches from Bruce and Ollie’s for lunch. Overall great stay and would recommend as an alternative to Starved Rock Lodge or other Utica visiting needs.

Very nice place. I’d love to come back and try another cottage or stay in the same site. Clear instructions/communications. Perfect location/distance from highway (came from Chicago). Really good food nearby. Quiet time and privacy - great for a peaceful getaway to recharge and reconnect. Clean and organized space.

A wonderful cottage just a few minutes away from Starved Rock State Park. The cottage is very modern, private, and comfortable. Also, Amy is very friendly and extremely responsive to messages. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a comfortable and private stay with plenty of room.

This place fit our needs just perfectly. Multiple private rooms since we were a group of single adults but with a nice lounge space to have a coffee together and re-group. The rooms were clean and organized when we arrived. The host Samuel was very responsive anytime I reached out to him. He greeted our crew and made our arrival easy and smooth. The place is so peaceful. A total treat when you love nature's beauty. Thank you for having us.

We had a great time at Lorraine's place! It was the perfect place to work remotely while enjoying Starved Rock and Matthiessen State Parks for some hiking in the afternoon. And to return back to their beautiful back yard with a hot tub was the icing on the cake! The listing was exactly as shown in pictures and described and included excellent touches that made you feel at home. I couldn't stop gushing over how thoughtful every detail was and we really appreciated everything! If we're ever back in the area, we would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone!

We really enjoyed our stay. We ended up just staying in one morning and relaxing in the living room. It was nice and cozy.

Great spot to go with friends and family. They have a water park, arcade, mini golf, and an ice cream place. We had a fun time at this resort and would definitely do it again!

Beautiful, spacious home. Had the amenities that were listed. Will need to bring shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and extra rolls of toilet paper, and this is listed in the details. The home was spotless and welcoming for our executive team retreat. How to instructions were provided and worked perfectly. Grateful for this opportunity to share dedicated time with my team in a space that allowed everyone to have personal space even when sharing a room. The bedrooms are enormous and lovely.

We spent two nights at Ellie’s place. It was just as described and it had the amenities described on the post. Ellie was responsive to questions I had and concerns.
