My stay at The Melkkan was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, Willemien, the amazing host, made me feel right at home. Her warmth and hospitality were unmatched, setting the tone for a truly memorable visit. The restaurant is a delightful trip down memory lane, adorned with nostalgic memorabilia from days gone by. It’s more than a place to eat; it’s a charming escape into history. The farmhouse, dating back to the 1800s, is a well-preserved gem. Willemien hosts music events featuring Afrikaans musicians, providing a vibrant, welcoming space where families can relax and enjoy. Children can explore while parents soak in the atmosphere. Whether travelling from Johannesburg to Cape Town or passing through Welkom, The Melkkan is an essential stop, offering history, hospitality, and memories to cherish.

The rooms are very clean and comfortable and great value for money. The breakfasts were delicious! All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

Always a great stay and a great host. A tranquil location with great surroundings.

Thank you for an amazing stay! I loved seeing the horses and getting to slip out early in the morning to go for a run. Everything was beautifully put together and clean, and I felt very welcome!

The place is really lovely. It is better in person than in pictures . If you need a place in Harrismith or take a quick break on the N3 then this is the place to book. Friendly stuff
