The tour starts at Harpa Concert Hall , in down town Reykjavík at 10.00 AM and from there we take to the scenic old harbour to visit the Grandi area and the Food Hall and a small Fish Market. The walk is easy and takes about 1, 5 hour. I can't know for sure that there will be a fish auction going on but it is always fun to visit the great Grandi area. We will stop several times and hear about the history of Iceland and walk towards the Icelandic Ocean Cluster. After the walk and the visit to the Cluster people have the choice to buy a quality fish-buffet at Messinn restaurant situated in the same building as the Maritime museum. The Fish buffet is with 15% discount for our guests and will cost 2400 Icelandic kronas (17 Euros or 19 USD) with the discount. It is quality fish and you can eat as much as you want and enjoy the harbour view. The focus is the story of a Fishing Nation but guests will also be informed about modern Icelandic culture and what fish means for us Today. Guests will be offered a taste off dry-fish and the famous fermented shark and to get that down they are offered Icelandic snaps. So in this tour guests will be told stories through fish and fisheries, get the dramatic facts and the fun part as well. A visit to the Fish Market is included and guests are offered discount for lunch afterwards, either in the Food Hall (10%) or at Messinn restaurant (15%).
I am experienced and educated in culture and tourism and in Icelandic history and literature. I love telling stories about my country and I recently finished a graduate degree in Applied Studies in Culture and Communications. I work for the Bar Association of Iceland, but also take part in the gig-economy as a guide and a freelance journalist. I am a vice-chairman of one of the trade unions within the Icelandic Confederation of University Graduates called The Union of University Graduates. My great grandmother is one of Iceland's most famous author, Guðrún Árnadóttir (Guðrún frá Lundi 1887-1975) and since I am her number one fan and educated in literature I travel around the country and give lectures on the author, in addition to having set up an exhibition about Guðrún's life and work.
A little taste of the icelandic bitter and the famous fermented shark and dried fish.

We start at Harpa, the culture house, down by the sea and take a look at that building. We walk along the shore, look at the outdoor exhibition and coastguard ships and head towards the old harbour and the fascinating area of Grandi. We visit Grandi Food Hall & Fish Market and the Icelandic Ocean Cluster to see Icelandic fish and how Icelanders use the fish and then we have a look at new fish byproducts. The tour finishes at the Ocean Cluster.
