Ive stayed at this wonderful home many times so I knew it was a treasure. However, the newest owner Gretchen really made this place even better. Clean, cozy, it has everything you need for a perfect moutain getaway. All the little touches and welcoming treats were greatly appreciated and enjoyed. Can't wait to return!

Exceeded our expectations! This is a beautiful, comfortable, relaxing and fun place to be. Clean, fully equipped, inviting, and the location is literally a breath of fresh air. The pool and hot tub were highlights for our entire family. The bathrooms and kitchen were pristine. The bedrooms were comfortable and everything was simple to use. All of the little details (linens, artwork, soaps, welcome note, etc.) made the experience feel personal. Thank You.

I had the most wonderful stay at Bliss Cabin, to say the least. From the initial photos of the writing desk and yoga deck, to the curious graveled path winding around the property lined with life and decorative details, I was totally immersed in the love and care that was so palpably present! Kathryn & Luke were absolutely lovely, so helpful, and incredibly accommodating! My recommendations while on the property: build and tend to a fire. Journal at the writing desk while playing Miles Davis. Take an early cold plunge in the river, do a round of Wim Hof breathing, then run up to take a hot shower at their beautiful abode. Chat with Luke, have tea with Kathryn. Do yoga on the deck. Say hello to the frogs. Express your inner musician with their drums and sound bowls. Let your soul free here!

I can't say enough good things about the The Empty Nest Cottage! The house itself is gorgeous! If you want to get away this is the place to get away too. I couldn't quite pick a favorite room, maybe the living room with beautiful arching ceilings but then there was the master with its own sitting room connected, or could it be the basement with lots to do for adults and kiddos including the two and one game ping pong/pool table. Don't get me started on the outside! From the pool, to the jacuzzi, and just nature surrounding I can't decide! But best of all the hospitality from Shawna Lynn and James were beyond measure. We enjoyed ourselves so much we asked for another day! Thanks again for such an amazing get away!

I loved the space inside and outside. The home is spacious, exceeding expectations, and very comfortable. A peaceful and serene rural setting. The only disappointment was how short my stay was.

Loved the view of the farm and watching the animals. The host was very responsive when we needed something. They also provided farm fresh eggs from their farm which we enjoyed each morning for breakfast. Super peaceful and cozy place!

I stayed in the cabin on the river, I must say it was probably the best few days I’ve ever had. Such a beautiful and peaceful set up, not to mention the farm as a whole was amazing. I will definitely be back!

Great place! Quiet, peaceful, and a nice base camp for exploring the Roanoke area. We had a wonderful timw, and the host was quick to respond to questions (mainly asking about background of the cabin and area). No issues, wonderful place! Highly recommend it!

We had a wonderful stay at Sarah’s cabin. The space was clean and comfortable, and the views of the surrounding property were beautiful. Sarah went out of her way to make us feel both welcome and at home. In fact, she left us breakfast supplies, including fresh eggs and homemade muffins! (She even left us supples to make s’mores!) The location was super convenient for us to visit the Virginia Safari Park and the Natural Bridge State Park as well.

Our stay at Finn’s Folly was fantastic, we wish it could have been longer. Kathryn is a great host, even leaving us some fresh eggs to enjoy! We’d gladly stay again.

Was a beautiful house and even more beautiful Property. The creek was beautiful, lots of area for kids to explore. Very well kept. The only issue we had was we could not find the cute fire pit by the creek the pictures showed. Other than that we had a great time and would highly recommend. Also should be stated to bring plenty of bottles or jugs of water.

We cannot say enough great things about the owners and this beautiful cabin!! If you are thinking about booking, think no more and do it! Not only was it absolutely beautiful on the inside but the area outside of the cabin made us feel like we were in our own sweet world. We saw deer, squirrels, so many birds, it was on the river and it was dreamy. The cabin itself was so fun! To stay in a real log cabin was a bucket list item and it was very pristine. There were wonderfully helpful notes all around to help us out and did I mention it was beautiful?!???

We loved the large deck with incredible views! There is another property very close to this one so wasn’t as secluded as we had hoped but overall we loved our stay here. Go check out Eagle Zen Winery if you have the chance.

This spot is indeed worth all the five star ratings! If you are in need of a reprieve from the hustle of everyday living/work - this is a prefect place. Hidden down a gravel drive off a quiet country road, Erin and Matt's cabin is the epitome of rustic chic perfection! The cabin has everything you need to enjoy your stay. We were very glad we opted to bring all our food provisions vs depending on driving into Farmville, which is a good 25 minutes away. We did drive out to enjoy a long walk on the High Bridge Trail with our dog and then get a beer at Three Roads Brewery. The description that the water front is down a very steep pitch is no joke! We loved taking our dog down to the water but keep in mind it would be near impossible to carry anything down there (i.e. ice chest, chairs etc) if you were thinking of hanging out for any period of time. All in all - the peaceful getaway was just what we were looking for and would highly recommend as well as return in the future!

We loved our stay here! Watching the wildlife in the mornings from the balconey was the best way to start the day. It was in a great location to hike trails in almost any direction. The bathrooms and bedrooms were very clean, and the decor was really cool! We'd stay here again in the future

The land around the cabin was gorgeous, a great place for our dogs to run and play. The cabin had a really cool vintage vibe with a wonderful screened in porch that was perfect for reading and relaxing with the calming sounds of nature. The Smith River a great place for fishing was within a 10 minute drive. Would definitely love to make this an annual trip destination.

Such a great cabin for some much needed TLC. We were hoping to hike the Peaks of Otter, but the weather had other plans. We arrived kind of late, but Andy met us at the farm entrance & led the way up the hill to the cabin. He showed us around & have us lots of helpful information. We spent the rainy day driving around the mountains & checking out historic Bedford. We stopped off at Beale’s Brewery for some local beer & food. Great spot! Then for dinner had Bella’s Italian, which was phenomenal! The garlic knots were addicting! We spent the evening relaxing on the back porch enjoying the peaceful views. Sunday the weather was much better so we hiked to the top of the property for the spectacular views. We cooked breakfast in the kitchen each morning, we had everything we needed. The bed was very cozy & the gas fireplaces were so nice & warm! Couldn’t ask for a better cabin getaway! We’ll definitely come back to take another shot at hiking the peaks!

Visiting from Virginia Beach with our daughters, one at JMU and one at Virginia Tech, and with family from PA.  The fall color was gorgeous!  Enjoyed the lantern ghost tour and October illumination of the Natural Bridge. We had lunch at Natty B's Cafe and visited Cave Mountain Lake where we saw lot's of wildlife.  We loved the fire pit and everything about this cabin.  You have done an amazing job creating the perfect weekend get away spot.  Thank you!

Perfect retreat from the city life! Loved petting the horses and watching deer in the evening from the porch!

The Cabin was really nice; very clean and modern, really liked the space. The AC didn't work very well, so it did get a little hot at times, but there are 2 big ceiling fans that worked well to keep it tolerable, that would be my only real complaint though was just temperature. There was a little snafu with the gate being locked at the entrance/exit of the property when we tried to exit, but they responded quickly to get it resolved. Overall it was a very nice cabin, and we really enjoyed our stay; would definitely recommend it.

What a wonderful house and location. Exceeded our expectations — inside was cozy and comfortable— kitchen was so nice and well appointed— down to spices, coffee. Bedrooms were nice, comfy beds and bathrooms were new and spotless. Plenty of outdoor spaces, kayaks, paddle boards, porches and decks had plenty of comfy seating. And the view — 🤩 I’ve already recommended to several friends

This was a wonderful stay for us during the New Year period. We loved the decor, and the location. A beautiful view of the valley, a real treat to wake up to every morning. We will definitely be back.
